ABOUT ME

I grew up in one of the fastest-growing cities on the Atlantic coast of the United States. I have two educated parents, both in the medical field, who never fail to explain their most recent most complicated surgery at the dinner table.

From the beginning, I acted as a care provider for my kindergarten class by taking my fellow classmates to the nurse for a bandaid or an ice pack when they fell on the playground. I was a child who hated to see others suffer. I can remember holding my twin brother's hand as he was getting shots from the pediatrician.

This characteristic became more apparent as I grew up. When my mother moved my family to Costa Rica for a year, I began to learn more about myself and how I perceive others. My family would go to clinics around Latin America with my mom as she tested vision in disabled and underprivileged children. Once in the ninth grade, I acted as a translator between parents and their children and the nurses with my mom’s team in the recovery room. These experiences are what lead me to pursue a Language and International Health degree with a minor in nonprofit leadership.

My natural tendency to take care of others has propelled me to explore beyond my parent’s dinner table. It has inspired me to take on the difficulties of medial care in lesser developed countries.

I chose Spanish and International Health so that I could explore the world while improving the lives of those who benefit significantly from my contributions. My minor in Nonprofit leadership will provide me with the resources to develop my own programs dedicated to curing detrimental diseases and illnesses in obscure populations.
